Adopting one of our puppies
If you’re interested in reserving a spot in our adoption queue, please read the information below closely.
Price. Our pet price is $2950 (plus applicable sales tax for Texas residents). You’ll pay a $500 non-refundable deposit after we approve you as an adoptive family. The balance will be due prior to puppy pick-up.
Reserving your spot on our adoption list. The first step is to complete our adoption application. We will review and contact you for a short conversation during which we’ll discuss the care and time requirements involved in caring for and nurturing an Australian Labradoodle.
If you decide to move forward with the adoption, and you’ve been approved as an adoptive family, we’ll send you a link to an invoice. At that point, your $500 non-refundable deposit will hold your reservation. You may pay the deposit through Venmo, Pay Pal ( $515), or cashiers check payable to Poppy Hills Labradoodles. The balance must be paid in full and cleared prior to puppy pick up. Your place on the reservation list is held once your deposit has been received. Your deposit will be applied to your total puppy cost and deducted from the balance due.
Preparing for your new puppy. After we’ve received your deposit, we will confirm your place on our reservation list. We don’t know how many puppies will be in a litter, so we can’t ever guarantee that you’ll get a puppy in our next litter. But we do our best to ensure we don’t take too many reservations for a particular litter.
Puppy Selection Process. Your place in the reservation line is based on when your deposit is received (first come, first served). We occasionally reserve one or two puppies from litters to keep as breeders in our breeding program. Then those with a paid reservation make their puppy selections. We do our best to help families with gender, coat, color and temperament preferences, but we can’t make any guarantees. We think all of our puppies are adorable but we strive to make sure everyone is happy with their final choice. If you do not find a suitable puppy from your reserved litter spot you may move your deposit to any upcoming litter in the future. After we select breeders, then
When will I get to meet my puppy and bring it home? We will keep you informed through the entire process–including the estimated due date of your litter, and then the arrival date of the litter. We will post new photos of the puppies online each week and give you information regarding personality and observations.
Once the puppies are born we also send out weekly emails to all families that have a puppy reserved with pertinent information to help you prepare for your new family member.
Can I visit the puppies? For the health of our puppies, we don’t allow you to visit the puppies in person until pick-up day. We know that you’re excited and are eager to meet your new family member. But the first few weeks of the puppies life they are very susceptible to many ailments and diseases. We promise to post lots of photos and videos on our website and on social media, though!
Shots and Vaccines. Your new puppy will come to you with age appropriate shots and deworming. They are micro-chipped at seven weeks and will have a final wellness check at this time. We’ll give you a detailed list of all of the shots and vaccines your new family member needs, and when–so that you’re ready when you visit your vet.
Spaying and Neutering. Poppy Hills Labradoodles DOES NOT do early spay or neuter on the input of several vets including Texas A & M Vet Clinic. The puppies are sold as pets only on a strict spay or neuter contract which will need to be completed by 8 months of age. We do follow up! If you are looking to purchase a breeding dog please contact us directly for pricing and information.
Pick-up Day! At 8-9 weeks of age, your new puppy is ready to go home. An appointment will be made for all new puppy families approximately a week and a half prior to going home day. Appointments are made in order of your reserved spot from deposits received. This is an exciting day as they join their “forever” homes. We offer “forever” support as well so do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have. The first few day and weeks will be an adjustment period for all and we want it to be as seamless as possible. We love your puppy as much as you do so we are always here to help! We can fly your puppy to you with a courier (no cargo) or deliver or meet you to deliver your puppy. Additional fees will apply.
